Luanzhen Embroidery, Painterly Depth, Craft Heritage

Biography

Lin Lili is an artist specializing in traditional Chinese embroidery, with more than 30 years of dedicated practice in the creation and teaching of Luanzhen Embroidery (乱针绣). Her works are held in the collections of institutions including the Guangzhou Cultural Center, the Guangdong Provincial Gallery of Arts and Crafts Treasures (广东省工艺美术珍品馆), the Guangdong Museum, and the China Folk Culture and Art Museum (中国民间文化艺术博物馆), as well as in private collections.

With refined and meticulous stitching techniques, she integrates the craftsmanship of Chinese embroidery with the principles of perspective, light and shadow, and color found in Western oil painting. She excels at creating embroidered works based on source images such as oil paintings and photography, achieving striking depth and rich layers. Using silk threads, her pieces convey the delicacy of Eastern culture, the warmth of handcraft, and a vivid sense of life.

Through her work, Lin hopes to help more audiences rediscover that Chinese embroidery is not merely a skill, but a living vessel of history, aesthetics, and cultural memory. By synthesizing the artistic essence of both East and West, she has opened new horizons for Chinese embroidery—creating works of exceptional artistic appreciation and strong collectible value.
